Burak Turna is a Professor of Urology at Ege University School of Medicine, Izmir, Turkey, one of the largest academic institutions in the country. Mr. Turna also worked as a consultant urologist in Edinburgh, UK between 2017-2019. Dr. Turna received his medical degree from Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey and completed his urology residency programme at Ege University Department of Urology, Turkey. After completion of his residency, Dr. Turna passed the qualifying exam for the “FEBU” Certification. He received the “EBU” Clinical Fellowship Award in Endourology in 2004 and also completed a research fellowship in Advanced Urologic Laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery in Cleveland Clinic, USA between 2006-2007. After his return from abroad, Dr. Turna has helped his home department to standardize and advance endourology, laparoscopy and also robotic surgery. Dr. Turna has been involved in the Turkish Urological Society’s scientific and educational activities and worked as a general secretary for Turkish Endourological Society. Dr. Turna acted as a speaker/moderator/trainer and has performed live surgery demonstrations in several national and international urology meetings. Dr. Turna has published more than 70 peer reviewed scientific papers and 10 book chapters specifically in the field of minimally invasive urological surgery. He recieved the “Turkish Urology Science” award in 2014. He has performed over 3000 major endourological, laparoscopic & robotic surgeries to date. Dr. Turna was one of the scientific secretaries of the “30th World Congress of Endourology and SWL” held in İstanbul, Turkey in 2012. He was also the Co-Chairman of “26th World Congress on Videourology” held in Izmir, Turkey in 2015. He also edited a book entitled “Tips in Urology” by Springer.
