Dr. Manuel Castanheira de Oliveira obtained his medical degree at the University of Coimbra in 2003 and did his residency in Urology at Centro Hospitalar do Porto – Hospital de Santo António from 2006 to 2011. He also holds a post-graduate degree in Legal Medicine by the National Institute of Legal Medicine since 2007 and became a fellow of the European Board of Urology in 2013.
Dr. Castanheira de Oliveira works as a Consultant Urologist at the Centro Hospitalar do Porto – Hospital de Santo António since 2012 and is presently the coordinator of the Urothelial Oncology Unit of the Urology Department. He also works as a legal medicine expert physician at the National Institute of Legal Medicine since 2008, with expertise in Bodily Damage Assessment.
His main fields of interest are oncology, neurourology, urogynecology, and reconstructive urology. He is a member of national and international scientific societies and has participated in different clinical trials. He is presently developing clinical and translational research on circulating tumour cells in urological oncologic diseases, in collaboration with other scientific research centres. Dr. Castanheira de Oliveira is an author and co-author of several peer-reviewed publications and is a scientific reviewer for several international journals.
