Miguel Ramirez Backhaus

Dr Ramírez-Backhaus obtained his Degree in 2001 (Universidad de Navarra) and completed his PhD in medical sciences at the Universidad de Valencia in 2008.

Trained as a Urologist at “Hospital Universitario La Fe” in Valencia  (2003-2008). In 2008 he started a fellowship in Minimally-invasive surgery at “Universitätsklinikum, Leipzig”. After one year, he joined the uro-oncology team at “Hospital La Fe” and started the Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy Program in “Hospital Universitario La Ribera”, Valencia. Currently, he is Clinical Leadn in Prostate Cancer in “Instituto Valenciano Oncologia” (IVO) and associate Profesor in Medical School in UCH CEU.

Member of the Spanish and European Urological Societies. He earned his Master´s Degree in Molecular Oncology from prestigious “Centro Nacional Investigaciones Oncologicas” (CNIO), Madrid. He was elected for “ESMO-ECCO-EORTC Methods in Clinical Cancer Research” Fellowship (2015) as well as “Challenges the Experts”. Davos 2016.

Dr Ramírez-Backhaus is a reviewer for relevant urology journals. He has been invited to perform live laparoscopic surgeries in several countries, highlighting the “Challenge in Laparoscopy and Robotics”. Leipzig 2018 and Barcelona 2019. He has presented in International Congress, published 60 indexed papers and has moderated several sessions at the European Association of Urology Meetings.

His area of research interest is prostate cancer, surgical and medical treatment and advances in technology and surgery.
