Dr Nicolae Crisan is Professor of Urology and Coordinator of the Center for Simulation in Medicine at “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He works within the Cluj County Hospital and he is one of the promoters of minimally-invasive surgery in Romania (laparoscopic and robotic). He has completed multiple training stages: in oncologic and robotic surgery, within the Milano European Oncology Institute, specialization in urologic robotic surgery San Giuseppe Hospital in Milano, training – Da Vinci Surgical System Off-Site Training Programe for a Console Surgeon” IRCAD-EITS, Strasbourg, France. He has extensive experience in 3D laparoscopy and robotic-assisted approach for oncological urology. He was the first surgeon to perform robotic-assisted approach for living donor nephrectomy and kidney transplantation in Romania. Current research topics concern: kidney transplantation, complex reconstructive surgery, robotic surgery, robotic and imaging (MRI) assistance of prostate biopsy, augmented reality surgery. He has published over 50 scientific papers (26 ISI), 1 patent and he has worked in 6 research national and international projects. He published more than 32 book chapters. He participated as an invited speaker to more than 70 national and international medical conferences. He was member of the Organising Board for more than 14 scientific events, member of the Scientific Committee and Faculty for 6 international conferences and President of the Organising Board for 5 editions of The International Conference Progress in Uro-Oncology.
