Prof. Dr. Thomas R.W. Herrmann is the Clinical Director of Urology and Chairman at Spital Thurgau AG, Switzerland. He is Professor of Urology at his alma mater Hanover medical School (MHH), Germany and Visiting Professor at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Prof. Herrmann is the Chairman of the German working group for Endourology and member of the German working group for Operative Techniques, member of European Association of Urology (EAU) Section of Uro-Technology (ESUT) lower tract group and member of the European Guideline panel for non-neurogenic male lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). He serves as a member of social media committee of the Endourological Society (ES) and is closely related to academic teaching bodies of the European School of Urology (ESU), Société Internationale d’Urologie (SIU), ES, and German Society of Urology (DGU). Prof. Herrmann serves as Associate Editor of the World Journal of Urology as well the SIU Journal.
Prof. Herrmann is a renowned international faculty and speaker on many occasions of major meetings as well as surgeon in live and semi-live surgery. Prof. Hermann is an international key opinion leader in the field of minimally invasive surgery. His major contributions are laser and bipolar surgery, especially transurethral anatomical enucleation of the prostate, en-bloc resection of bladder tumours (ERBT) as well as retrograde and percutaneous surgery of the upper urinary tract. He is a pioneer in Thulium laser soft tissue surgery, anatomical enucleation approaches (ThuLEP and BipolEP), and ERBT. After transitioning from laparoscopy to robotics, his current focus lays on robotic surgery of benign and malignant prostatic disease as well oncologic surgery of the kidney and bladder.
